About Me: Chris and My Journey with Faith
Hi, welcome to embracingthecross.com. My name is Chris, and I’m the owner of this website. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself.
I became a follower of Jesus Christ as a teenager. While I attended church and became involved in youth group, no one really took the time to personally disciple me. Therefore, I didn’t really have a strong foundation in Jesus.
When tribulations came, my world was shattered. As a result, I left the Christian faith for fifteen years. During that time, I wandered aimlessly. I tried alcohol, false religions, and gambling to fill the void in my hear.
None of that worked. In the end, I destroyed everything around me, including my marriage, my relationship with my kids, my health, and my career. When it felt like I could sink no further, God came to me and picked me back up.
As I was walking around town one day, I heard God speaking to me in that still, small voice reminding me of what I had left behind. He reminded me that He still loved me and had a plan for my life. It was no thunder and lightning moment. I just knew that God was real, and I needed to surrender my life to Jesus.
From that point on, I began discipleship on my own. Over the next two years, it was a rough road as I tried it on my own. Then, I found help in a local church pastored by a friend. Together, he and I worked on growing closer to Jesus.
The Purpose for embracingthecross.com
Throughout the past few years, I’ve come to learn that being a disciple of Jesus is not a solo act. We were created to help each other out as part of the body of Christ.
I’ve learned so much about discipleship, worship, and fellowship from fellow believers. They are strong where I am weak, and vice versa. We strengthen each other and inspire each other.
So, I created this website. It’s my goal to encourage you to embrace the cross and follow Jesus. I want to help you grow in your relationship with God and serve Him with your whole heart.
